Days 5/6

Hello all! Yesterday, got up at 6 and was out in the snow by 7 to do
the 10.8 miles to Low Gap Shelter. Everybody at the hostel and the
cabins was heading there, as it has a low elevation and therefore is
warmer. However, there are only 7 spots in the shelter, so about 20
people went as hard as they could to get there, making for a less than
enjoyable hike. The snow made the uphill portions easier as it leveled
out the trail, getting rid of tall steps that kill your legs. The
downhill, however, was much more treacherous. I am very glad I bought
hiking poles. Ate a quick lunch of a snickers, log of cheese, and some
summer sausage. I really moved the last 4.5 to make some seperation
from other hikers, and wearily stumbled to the shelter to find that my
efforts had been rewarded and I had a shelter spot. Ate a Mountain
Home meal, put up my food, and crawled into my sleeping bag at 4
